Aurora soundproofing rug – ready-made sizes

If echo, footstep noise or cold, bare floors are making your home less comfortable, the Aurora soundproofing rug is the answer. Available in ready-made sizes with finished edges, so you can use it straight away. The colour is built into the fibre during manufacturing — it won’t wear off, won’t fade, and can even be cleaned with bleach. Available in four understated, natural shades that blend effortlessly into any interior.

Living room, dining area

No more shouting across the dinner table, no more TV volume battles — the densely twisted pile and dual-layer backing work together to reduce echo and noticeably improve the way your room sounds.

Bedroom, guest room

Soft and warm underfoot first thing in the morning, and footsteps no longer travel upstairs at night. The impact noise reduction is especially noticeable in flats and multi-storey homes.

Home office, study

Reduces echo in home office spaces — voices come through clearer on Zoom and Teams calls, with less fatiguing background noise. Less ambient noise means easier focus and concentration.

Home cinema, hi-fi room

Absorbs a significant portion of sound reflecting off the floor, so dialogue comes through clearer when watching films and musical detail is more defined. It won’t replace acoustic panels, but it makes a real difference at floor level.

Bleach-safe

The colour isn’t applied to the surface — it’s built into the fibre during manufacturing. It won’t wash out, won’t wear off, and cleaning agents won’t damage it.

Fade-resistant

The solution-dyed colour is far more resistant to fading than conventional surface dyeing. Even in sun-drenched rooms, there’s no need to worry about discolouration.

Scratch-free backing

The dual-layer backing is made from felt and woven polypropylene — it won’t scratch the floor beneath, whether that’s laminate, hardwood or tile.

Formaldehyde-free

Safe to use in children’s rooms, bedrooms, or anywhere indoor air quality matters.

Available sizes

The rug is available in the following standard sizes with finished edges:

Certifications

  • 🌿 GUT certified — Tested and certified by GUT (Gemeinschaft umweltfreundlicher Teppichboden), a German organisation that independently tests carpets for indoor air quality, volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and odour. The certificate confirms the product meets healthy living environment standards.
  • CE marked (EN 14041) — Complies with the EN 14041 European floor covering standard, which covers slip resistance (≥ 0.30), fire classification (Efl) and formaldehyde emission (NA — not detected). Declared thermal resistance: 0.22 m²·°C/W.

Why we chose this material

We wanted a rug you don’t have to tiptoe around. With Aurora, the colour is built into the full cross-section of the fibre during manufacturing — it isn’t applied afterwards, as with conventional carpets. That’s why it can be cleaned with bleach without damaging the pile, and why it resists UV fading far better than surface-dyed alternatives. The dual-layer backing — felt and woven polypropylene — provides scratch-free contact with any floor and the flexibility to suit every installation method.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The thermal resistance is 0.22 m²·°C/W, which is well within the acceptable range for underfloor heating. Heating efficiency won’t be significantly affected, and the material handles sustained warmth without issue.

Regular vacuuming is all it takes for day-to-day care. For stains, you can use diluted bleach — the fibre won’t be damaged and the colour won’t change, because it’s not on the surface but built into the material itself. That’s one of the key differences compared to conventionally dyed carpets.

The colour is built into the fibre during manufacturing rather than applied to the surface, making it significantly more resistant to fading than conventionally dyed carpets. Some minimal change may occur under prolonged direct sunlight over time, but the difference compared to surface-dyed carpets is substantial.

A slight factory smell is normal when new and typically disappears within a few days. The rug holds a GUT certificate, meaning its emissions have been independently lab-tested — it contains no harmful substances.

The dual-layer backing is scratch-free and stable on its own — no underlay is required. However, if you want the best possible noise reduction, the Elitexa rug underlay noticeably improves impact noise dampening — especially recommended for upstairs rooms and flats.

The dual-layer backing provides a stable base, but on smooth floors — especially tiles or laminate — it’s worth using anti-slip pads underneath. Our self-adhesive anti-slip pads work perfectly with this rug.

The rug arrives rolled, so it may have some waves in the first few days. It usually flattens completely within 24–48 hours of being laid out. If a stubborn wave persists, try flipping it briefly or placing a weight on it.

What to know before ordering

  • Size tolerance of +/- 2–3% is possible with carpet products.
  • Colours on screen may differ from reality.
  • The rug is delivered rolled, so it needs a little time to flatten out fully after unrolling.
  • Slight colour variation between separate orders is possible — this is a natural part of the manufacturing process.
