Colours of corner bass trap

If you order Giga bass traps membrane you can choose among 16 different colours of acoustic velvet coating and if you like it with leather membrane you can choose among 12 acoustic imitation of leather colours.
Our acoustic panels are always assembled and ready to use thus you can install it without waiting.

The panel is also available with the latest Elitexa extra dense 200kg/m³ acoustic foam. In this case, the sound absorption below 400Hz is nearly doubled. As a result, the product’s weight almost doubles! The denser the material, the more low-frequency sound it can absorb.

The properties of our Giga corner bass trap with double membrane

Our Giga corner bass trap with double membrane is made of high-density acoustic imitation of leather material. Its stiffness is ensured by the rigid wood construction.
We use 90kg/m3 acoustic wool for the internal sound absorption, or you can order it with extra dense 80kg/m3 Elitexa acoustic foam (additional cost). FIt was developed especially for this purpose and it is harmless for the health.
The surface is covered with acoustic velvet which prevents dust emission.
The touch, the look, the texture of the imitation of leather is identical to the real leather.

Cleaning:

Wipe it with a slightly damp cloth.

In Which Areas Do Our Giga Bass Traps with Double Membrane Outperform Other Products?

Thanks to the leather, the sound absorption above 600Hz is minimal, while it is significantly more effective at lower frequencies.
By eliminating unwanted bass starting from 30Hz, you’ll experience more detailed and controlled bass, while higher frequencies remain clearer and more spacious.

All of our products are continuously measured and tested.

Bass traps membrane is an extremely effective bass traps that combines a membrane resonator and a full size and range sound absorbing panel in order to defeat the problematic parts of the low frequencies.

Formation of Bass Traps Membrane

The Giga bass trap features a uniquely designed spring leather, with high-density acoustic wool (90kg/m³) inside. This combination effectively absorbs frequencies below 600Hz when used with a leather membrane. As a result, these bass traps are highly effective in absorbing low frequencies.

The closed airspace behind the membrane fully exploits the quarter-wavelength principle, further enhancing the absorption of low frequencies in this critical bass region.

With the Giga bass traps membrane, low frequencies are absorbed by a stretched membrane placed across the full width of the structure. This membrane slows down the low frequencies through vibration and ultimately stops them where their volume is particularly high. The room’s dimensions can amplify or cancel certain frequencies, and the bass trap membrane is designed to address this. It resonates soundlessly at low frequencies, smoothing out the modal frequencies.

Installation Intro

The optimal position for the bass trap is in the corner where the walls meet, as this is where low frequencies are most concentrated.
If there isn’t enough space for a corner unit (corner bass trap), we recommend using narrower or custom-sized panels.
By combining these bass traps with broadband acoustic panels and diffusers, you can create a perfectly balanced space.

Applications

The ideal setup involves placing at least two bass traps on top of each other in each corner. If this is not possible, position them at ear level, with the center of the bass trap at ear level while seated. This setup also helps control the secondary reflection points.
If you prefer not to drill, the bass traps will perform excellently when placed on the floor.

A Little Science: How Giga Bass Traps Membrane Has Been Developed

Bass Problems in the Recording Studio

With the rise of affordable digital and analog electronics, recording studios have expanded to the point where many successful records are made entirely in home studios. Most of these rooms are existing structures that were never originally designed for audio recording or listening.

Small rooms present several challenges: due to their close walls, speakers and instruments are exposed to strong reflections, causing serious comb filtering. Since most rooms are rectangular or square, parallel walls can lead to significant standing waves and unwanted echo.

These reflections cause both the collapse of the listening position and ear fatigue. A straightforward solution for addressing middle and high-frequency reflections is the use of broadband absorbing panels, such as the popular Broadband Acoustic Panel.

Handling bass frequencies, however, is more challenging and is often referred to as modal distortion or room modes.

Room modes occur when multiple low-frequency sound waves converge. When several phases align, they combine and grow stronger, causing a boost at certain frequencies. Alternatively, these sound waves can combine out of phase, canceling each other out and creating dips in the bass frequencies. Neither of these scenarios is ideal, as the speakers may sound too loud or too quiet depending on where you are in the room.

In an ideally treated room, moving around should result in a balanced sound, with minimal deviation in different areas of the space.

Use of Giga corner bass traps membrane

It is easy to handle and it works

By combining a bass trap membrane with Broadband acoustic panels, you will realise that the bass will calm down immediately, the rattling echo decreases which helps to eliminate the disturbing standing waves that cause peaks or nulls.

With less reflections and echoes the listener’s room will be quieter thus the work will be more comfortable and enjoyable. With a properly treated and balanced recording studio the mixing become more precise and more audible when you hear the recorded music in different places such as your car or other acoustic environment.

The use and advantage of corners:

It is well known that the low frequencies enrich in the corners where they are multiplied and strengthening each other. That is why the acoustic experts always start the acoustic treatment with the corners. The other major reason is that as the bass multiplies in the corners, thus if you double the number of corner bass traps the bass traps will function as sound traps.

FAQ:

Can I place the Giga basstrap membrane in a corner?

We provide our acoustic panels with pre-drilled holes and you must screw the added hook bolts manually. Then you must put a hook bolt in the hole drilled in the wall, then hang it.

room acoustic design with acoustic absorbers

How the Membrane Absorbs the Bass

The membrane absorbs bass through a simple, soundless vibration. This means the high-density membrane mounted on the panel begins to vibrate when bass frequencies pass through, significantly slowing them down. The panels contain high-density acoustic wool that immediately slows the bass as it passes through, and according to thermodynamic principles, the acoustic energy is converted into heat.

Do We Improve Sound Absorption by Stacking Two Corner Bass Traps?

Yes. Stacking two corner bass traps not only increases the surface area for absorbing high, middle, and low frequencies but also likely enhances bass absorption due to the increased reflections.

If These Are Called Membrane Bass Traps, How Do They Absorb High Frequencies?

The bass range is the most difficult to control, which is why we compromised by optimizing absorption for low frequencies, sacrificing the absorption of higher frequencies. If you want to absorb sounds across the entire frequency range, we recommend our corner unit bass trap or our standard bass trap.

How Can I Measure the Performance of the Bass Trap?

You can measure its performance using Room Acoustics Software, which is available for free download.
First, measure the room without the corner bass trap in place, then measure again after placing the bass trap in the corner. The impact and results will speak for themselves.
Avoid using lower-quality acoustic panels or foam for comparison, as they will not perform as well. General foam (20-30kg/m³ density) cannot effectively absorb deep bass. In contrast, our Elitexa acoustic foam (80kg/m³ density) is designed to absorb deeper sounds due to its high density.

Can I Use It Behind Acoustic Curtains?

Absolutely. It will also absorb deep sounds when placed behind acoustic curtains.
