On the back panel, the LG CX OLED includes a total of four HDMI 2.1 ports and three USB 2.0 ports, offering ample connectivity for your devices. It’s also equipped with an Ethernet port for wired internet access and an RF coaxial connector for cable or antenna inputs. For audio, the TV features an optical digital audio output and a 3.5mm headphone jack, accommodating both digital and analog setups.

In terms of wireless capabilities, the CX includes standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless pairing with wireless headphones or speakers. It also supports the aptX codec, ensuring higher-quality wireless audio transmission. Performance

The LG CX OLED offers a wide range of picture settings to suit virtually every viewing preference. Users can choose from several preset modes, including Sports, Cinema, Game, Vivid, and HDR Effect. One of the standout features is the new Filmmaker Mode, which faithfully reproduces the director’s original vision by preserving the original aspect ratio, color tones, and frame rate. While this mode—similar to Cinema mode—may appear slightly softer compared to other presets, it offers the most authentic and accurate picture quality.

In addition, LG’s AI Picture Pro technology intelligently analyzes different parts of the image and applies real-time enhancements where needed, delivering balanced and optimized visuals across diverse content types.

Picture Quality & Color Performance

The LG CX OLED excels in color fidelity, delivering rich, accurate tones across a wide range of content. One of its most impressive strengths is the exceptional viewing angle—there’s no noticeable drop in brightness or color saturation, no matter where you’re seated. Movies often appear almost three-dimensional, with deeper colors and lifelike skin tones especially in Cinema Mode.

A key difference between the CX OLED and more affordable 4K TVs is its superior handling of color transitions. While budget models may struggle with smooth gradients, the CX OLED manages most shifts in tone seamlessly, without visible banding or distortion. Content from popular platforms like Netflix and other streaming services is presented with crisp detail and fantastic sharpness, and even standard HD content is rendered beautifully.

Traditionally, one area where OLEDs have struggled is in displaying shadow detail during dark scenes. We’re pleased to report that the LG CX OLED successfully addresses this challenge, delivering excellent contrast and detail even in low-light sequences.

LG is also great for gaming. It has a reduced latency game mode that worked well with the Xbox One 4K game. LG supports HGiG for HDR gaming. LG includes a pixel refresh feature designed to eliminate image retention.

Test

LG has offered an accurate and wide range of colours. The colour accuracy of the LG CX was one of the most outstanding factors. The LG CX provided one of the widest gamuts we’ve seen, resulting in more intense colours and a vibrant image

The LG CX has proven its capabilities in games too. Thanks to the low latency mode, we were able to see perfect images for games as well. Bottom line: The LG CX is one of the best gaming TVs we can get.

Sound

The general weakness of large flat screen TVs is their sound. Their sleek design lacks space for traditional speakers. The device has an AI Acoustic Tuning setting that uses the remote control microphone to calibrate the sound for that room. It only takes a few seconds to complete the calibration, after which the TV really sounded better, it resulted in improved sound, it put music and sound more in the foreground, in the middle.

For the ideal sound, it is better to create a good quality sound system with suitable speakers and an amplifier. The acoustics of the rooms also need to be addressed if we want the perfect solution. It is recommended to place acoustic sound-absorbing panels and diffusers on the walls and ceiling. Testing was performed in a larger living room where wood membrane absorption panels as well as pyramid diffusers and acoustic mats were servicing improved acoustics.

The LG CX OLED also supports Dolby Atmos. There are several preset sound modes, and Cinema mode provides the most balanced effects. There is also a five-band equaliser that is effective in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz, so if you want to adjust the sound, you can do so in Standard mode.

In the music field, we heard a little too vivid treble and overly accentuated bass, but after adjusting the Music mode, we made the sound balanced.

Smart TV Functions

LG has perfected its webOS smart TV platform, making it one of the most intuitive and user-friendly proprietary systems available. The LG CX OLED supports a wide range of popular apps, including Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and Showtime. While it doesn’t offer the extensive app selection found on Android TV or Roku devices, it covers the most essential streaming services.

All tested apps—from Netflix to Vudu—ran smoothly. Although minor glitches occurred, such as formatting issues with the Pandora music app, LG quickly resolved these with a software update. WebOS is regularly updated, ensuring that apps remain functional and the system remains highly reliable.

In addition, the LG Channels feature—powered by Xumo—offers a curated list of free streaming services and on-demand movies, which adds great value without extra cost.

Remote Control & Smart Features

The LG Magic Remote features a central scrollable and clickable wheel, functioning much like a wireless mouse to control the on-screen cursor. It also includes standard number keys, as well as volume and channel controls.

This ergonomically curved remote is thoughtfully laid out and can serve as a universal controller for other devices. For example, it took just a few seconds for the remote to recognize and control a PlayStation 4. Holding down the microphone button activates Google Assistant, which responds quickly and accurately to voice commands.

Unlike LG’s higher-end OLED models, the CX OLED does not feature built-in far-field microphones. Instead, voice input must be done directly through the remote. Nevertheless, LG ThinQ smart TVs also support Amazon Alexa, giving users flexible voice control options.
