Introducing the Marantz SR6015 AV Receiver!

Premium Engineering from a Legacy Brand
Marantz is part of Sound United, the parent company behind other renowned audio brands like Denon, Polk Audio, Classe, and Definitive Technology. While all these brands share a common umbrella, each has retained its unique identity and proprietary technologies. Marantz, in particular, has always emphasized premium sound quality, with every product undergoing a meticulous design and manufacturing process, overseen by expert engineers.
A hallmark feature across both its AV and SR product lines is the HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module). This discrete circuit design features short signal paths, allowing it to outperform traditional op-amp configurations. The SR6015 incorporates high-current discrete amplifiers on all channels, delivering 110 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20Hz–20kHz, THD: 0.08% in two-channel mode). Its robust internal components ensure stability, even when driving low-impedance speakers. For superior digital-to-analog conversion, the SR6015 is equipped with AKM’s 32-bit AK4458 DACs.
Cutting-Edge Connectivity and Format Support
The SR6015 features nine amplifier channels, all enhanced with HDAM technology. It offers seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs, including a dedicated 8K-compatible output that supports 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz. In addition to Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and 3D video, it supports 21:9 aspect ratio, BT.2020 color space, and the latest HDCP 2.3 copy protection on all HDMI inputs. This makes it a future-ready AV receiver for both home theater enthusiasts and demanding audiophiles.

The SR6015’s video processor supports native video signals up to 8K resolution, making it fully prepared for the latest in ultra-high-definition content. Thanks to HDMI eARC, it can transmit high-quality audio formats—such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X—directly from your smart TV to your home theater speakers, ensuring a premium cinematic experience.
In terms of connectivity, the receiver is equipped with the latest Bluetooth technology and offers multiple options for network integration: AirPlay 2, LAN, and Wi-Fi. With HEOS multi-room streaming, audio can be shared seamlessly with other HEOS-compatible devices throughout your home. Additionally, the SR6015 can function as a preamplifier, giving users the flexibility to connect it to an external power amplifier for even more tailored system configurations.

Thoughtful and Elegant Design
Marantz is known for its attention to design, and the SR6015 is no exception. The minimalist front panel features symmetrical, circular knobs on either side for input selection and volume control, while the central display provides just the essential information, making it clean and easy to read.
The Info button on the remote expands this minimalism by displaying additional details on your TV or projector—such as audio format, processing mode, and other settings—so you can tweak the sound in real time. Unlike many receivers that clutter the front panel with data, the SR6015 keeps it elegantly simple.
Behind the front panel cover, you’ll find a range of practical inputs: headphone jack, Audyssey microphone input, zone control buttons, audio mode selectors, USB, and A/V component inputs. However, thanks to the fully functional remote, most users won’t need to open this panel often.
Rear Panel & Usability
On the back, the SR6015 features eleven speaker binding posts, seven HDMI inputs, and three HDMI outputs, including a dedicated port that supports 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video transmission. It also supports 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, Dolby Vision, HLG, HDR10, 21:9 video, 3D, and BT.2020 color gamut.
An added convenience: the receiver automatically detects and labels connected input devices, but users can also customize these labels with ease.
The main drawback? The remote control lacks a backlight, which can be frustrating in dark environments—especially during evening home theater use when lighting is low or fully dimmed.

Testing the Marantz SR6015
We tested the amplifier in a relatively modest-sized room, paired with Definitive Technology D15 tower speakers. The room was acoustically relatively tidy: leather sound-absorbing membranes were placed on the walls, Cube acoustical sound panels in the corners, and acoustic curtains in front of the window provided the ideal balance of sounds and complete darkening. It would still be necessary to place diffusers on the ceiling for optimum sound. We first tested musicality on the Marantz AV receiver, playing Ed Sheeran’s brand new song Bad Habits.
The music filled the space and wonderfully flooded the room. We had a dynamic, lifelike, detailed sound.
We also tested the device while watching a movie. We watched the action movie Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth. The receiver produced a perfect surround effect, the dynamics were quite impressive, the detail as well. After the Audyssey correction, the deep ones also became strong and percussive.
Conclusion
With its excellent sound quality, quick and intuitive setup, Audyssey MultEQ XT32 calibration system, and support for both 4K and 8K video processing, the Marantz SR6015 is an outstanding AV receiver. Its ability to function as a preamplifier adds even more flexibility, making it a true standout in its class.
The SR6015 inherits most of the premium features found in the flagship SR8015, but at a more accessible price—offering slightly less power, but without compromising performance. While the lack of backlighting on the remote control is a minor drawback, it doesn’t overshadow the receiver’s impressive capabilities.
Whether you’re a home theater enthusiast or a dedicated music lover, the SR6015 is a compelling choice packed with value and high-end performance.
